Metropolis - About the Author

Those of you who regularly read our party band blog may wonder who writes it and who the faces are behind Metropolis. This post will give you an insight into exactly that!Myself, James Eager and Jim Kinloch, write the blog. Jim is a very fine fellow who runs a company called Conversion Detectives, who look after our online marketing. Everything else is managed by my company Metropolis Productions Ltd.Metropolis Productions is a limited company which was incorporated in July 2011 and also VAT registered at the same time. It’s sole purpose is combine our unique knowledge of running the function band Metropolis with high end event production. This creates a one stop shop for live music, DJ hire, staging, power / generators , site electrics , sound and lighting supply. From our extensive experience we have found many clients organising corporate events, wedding and Jewish celebrations often find it easier to deal with one company, rather than many subcontactors.As managing director many people ask about my background: My career essentially started as a freelance musician. Whilst at School I took up the electric guitar, bass guitar and the double bass. I then went on to gain a place at Trinity College of Music based in Greenwich, London, to study jazz double bass as my principal instrument. During my time there the original incarnation of Metropolis was formed (more on that in later posts!).Upon leaving Trinity, graduating with a 2:1 degree in music performance, I started my career as a session bass guitar player and double bassist. With a natural affinity for doubling on both instruments, most of my work came from the theatre world. To date I have worked on shows such a We Will Rock You, The Lion King, Wicked, Spamalot, Dirty Dancing and Saturday Night Fever to name a few. In addition to this I was often found on a few recording sessions and teaching in Hertfordshire, when I’m from originally.Several years ago the Metropolis ship really started to gain momentum and what you see today was born.
